The abandoned blog

Today I logged on to shut this "blog" (if you can call it that) down. But not before I took a trip down memory lane and I realized that my posts weren't that bad. I need to work on my grammatical errors but the posts actually have useful information. I think I got caught up in the hype of creating this blog and helping the "nation" of individuals interested in healthy hair care that I lost focus on what this blog's true essence was about...me and my hair journey. When the subscribers didn't come and with a new blog popping up every 8 seconds, I didn't believe I could compete. The thing is, it was never about that. I let the hype of being a "blogger" allow me to lose sight of my vision. I started focusing on the look of the blog and what would bring more subscribers. While reading my posts today I refocused and realized this is my journey, no one else's. The natural hair blogs that keep popping up have nothing to do with me. Shutting this down would be quitting and I would be giving up on me essentially. So, I am here to stay and if I never get another subscriber... I don't care. I want to look back and see my journey in words and photos. I want to be able to say I didn't give up.

Why wash-n-go's are not for me

I have been natural for over 2 years now and within that time I have probably attempted a wash-n-go 3 times. Each time I have come to the same conclusion, as it cute as it might come out the tangles that I have to deal with are not worth it. My crowning glory is compromised of corkscrew curls, s shapes curls, poofy parts, straight parts and pretty much everything else in between. With all of those textures commingling on one head it just a place for disaster strike. As my hair dries the ends begin to tangle. I get frustrated and start popping them off. I know but I couldn't find a scissors at the time. Dealing with the aftermath of the tangles during the take down is just a pain and leads to more strands than usual being lost. Wash-n-go's are wash-n-no's when it comes to the locs on my head. If you are one of the lucky few who you has a technique down to a science, feel free to share.

Cream n Sugar/Wednesday Ramblings

I've been gone for a minute but I am back. Sometimes you need to step away and get your life back in focus before you can begin to add anything else to it. Even though my vision may still be blurred, I have a focus/goal on where and who I want to be as person. It can be so easy to fall off track but true strength is not measured in from the intensity of the  fall but on your will to get back up. A set back is a set up for come up. When you are at the bottom the only way you have left is UP! Thank Him during the hard times and praise His name in every victory. Sometimes the blessing is not in the beginning of things but in the end.

Peace and Blessings,

Kizzy xoxo

Wash Day Play-by-Play

Yesterday was a very eventful day for my hair and I. It involved a hot oil treatment (H.O.T), Pibbs Kwik Dry, Huetiful and Clairol Beautiful Collection in wine brown. I know it is a lot but there was a reason behind all of it (which will come in a later post).

Now to the hot oil treatment....

I fell off the wagon

The hair care wagon that is. I have been neglecting my hair in the worse way. Moisturizing, no. Being gentle, no. Giving it the much needed TLC that natural tresses require, no. How can I post about hair when I'm not doing what needs to be done. Major changes have been going on in my life and my hair is the one suffering for it. I just throw a wig on and go but tonight I came across a video that got me back on track....

It's not the length of the hair, it's the health of it that amazes me. Who am I kidding the length is a plus =)
